Kasatkina Secures First Win as an Australian: "I Received So Many Messages and Support"
Daria Kasatkina advanced to the round of 16 at the WTA 500 in Charleston on Wednesday by defeating Lauren Davis (6-1, 6-1).
In her first match representing Australia, the world No. 12 naturally felt a wave of emotions, as she admitted in her post-match interview:
"I heard it twice—'From Australia, Daria Kasatkina.' Once during my walk-on and again during the warm-up. I couldn’t stop smiling. Even though I was nervous and stressed before the match because there are also changes happening in my life.
Thank you for your support. I’ve received so many messages. The last few years have been tough. I’m really happy to be here and to feel this way."
