Keys topples Svitolina and plays her third semi-final in Melbourne

Wednesday's program at the Australian Open opened with the quarter-finals of the women's draw. After Badosa and Sabalenka's qualifying matches, it was the turn of Elina Svitolina and Madison Keys.
The two players have already faced each other three times in Grand Slam events (two wins for the Ukrainian), but their last confrontation in this category of tournaments dates back to the 2019 US Open.
In form at the start of the season and victorious at the Adelaide tournament just before the start of this Australian Open, Keys arrives with confidence.
Nevertheless, Svitolina, who is playing in her first tournament since foot surgery after the US Open, is already back to a very good level.
The former world number 3 dominated world number 4 Jasmine Paolini to reach the quarters.
In a match that was tight and indecisive right to the end, Keys found the resources to turn things around and win her 10th consecutive match (3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 1h51).
The world No.14 now qualifies for her third Australian Open semi-final after 2015 and 2022.
She will face Iga Swiatek in her bid to reach the final and is assured of a return to the top 10 at the end of this Australian fortnight.
