Kokkinakis on the Australian Open 2025: "Sinner and Alcaraz are the favourites, but never underestimate Djokovic"
The 2025 tennis season is about to get underway again, leading up to the season's first Grand Slam in Melbourne in mid-January.
The Australian Open will be the scene of the first real tennis emotions of the year.
Jannik Sinner is the defending champion after his stunning victory over Daniil Medvedev in 2024, and will be the man to beat after an exceptional season.
In an interview with Tennis Head, Thanasi Kokkinakis gave his thoughts on the players most likely to shine during the Australian fortnight.
"I'd say Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are the favourites, and then Novak Djokovic. We must never underestimate him, and we'll see how fit he is when he returns to the circuit.
There are those three above the rest, but of course there's Alexander Zverev, who's been playing some fabulous tennis in recent months.
Taylor Fritz is also knocking on the door with his US Open final. There are a lot of good players out there," he asserts.
