Krajicek: "Today, it's harder to beat Sinner than Sampras at his best".

Krajicek: Today, it's harder to beat Sinner than Sampras at his best.

Richard Krajicek, former Dutch player and Wimbledon winner in 1996, had this to say about Jannik Sinner. He compared him to the legend Pete Sampras: "Sampras was an incredible player, there's no doubt about it.

But I knew that if I attacked him on the backhand side, I'd have a small chance of beating him. Nowadays, everyone knows how to do everything on the court, all the players move very well.

When I look at them, I say to myself: if I played now, how could I beat them? Right now, I don't think Sinner has any weaknesses. It's harder to beat him than Sampras at his best.

Today's players are more complete at every level. When I was playing, even the best players had weaknesses, like Sampras' backhand or Agassi's serve.

You felt you could beat anyone, even Sampras, whom I beat six times. I'm glad I played in the 90s, otherwise it would have been very difficult for me."
