Kyrgios will not return to the BBC to commentate on Wimbledon this year

Nick Kyrgios will not be returning to competition on grass. Absent from the courts since his second-round defeat at the Miami Masters 1000 against Karen Khachanov (7-6, 6-0), the Australian has withdrawn from the tournaments in Stuttgart, Queen’s, and Wimbledon.
Since the start of the 2023 season, Kyrgios, a former world No. 13, has won only one match—this year in Florida against Mackenzie McDonald. While Kyrgios is skipping Wimbledon on the court, the 30-year-old could still have been present in London in a consulting role.
Hired by the BBC last year to commentate on some matches at the London Grand Slam, Kyrgios will not renew this experience in 2025. A year ago, the arrival of the unpredictable Australian on the BBC sparked controversy in England.
Indeed, he had admitted a year earlier (in February 2023) during his trial that he assaulted one of his ex-girlfriends, Chiara Passari, in December 2021 following an argument.
Ultimately, the case was dismissed with no further action taken against Kyrgios. His many outspoken remarks on various topics, known for his bluntness, also do not work in his favor.
As L'Équipe recalls, during this year’s Australian Open, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist worked as a consultant for ESPN after his first-round loss to Jacob Fearnley, but he will also not be appearing for the network during this 2025 edition.
