Kyrgios Wins First Match Since October 2022 in Miami

It had been almost three years since Nick Kyrgios last won a match on the ATP Tour.
Returning to competition in January after a year and a half away from the circuit, the Australian had lost his first three matches (Brisbane, Melbourne, and Indian Wells), hindered by a still-painful wrist.
Facing Mackenzie McDonald in the first round of the Miami Masters 1000, the Australian seemed off to a rough start after losing 12 of the first 13 points of the match.
Trailing one set to zero, Kyrgios looked far more convincing in the next two sets, with a rediscovered serve (13 aces, 78% of points won behind his first serve) to secure a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.
In the next round, he will face Karen Khachanov, an opponent against whom he trails 2-1 in their head-to-head record.
