Defeated by Daniel Evans in 2024, Sonego hopes to do better than a first-round exit this year at the Miami Masters 1000.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Sonego spoke ahead of the event. The world No. 37 hopes to create a surprise despite very high competition:

"Even without Sinner, there are many top-level players. Alcaraz has already won here, and Zverev is always very tough to play.

Then there are the Americans, who are playing at home and are very strong. But since Jannik isn't here, there can always be surprises."

In Florida, Sonego will face Navone in the first round to "create a surprise."
