Jarry, still injured in the foot, will not participate in the Miami tournament
Nicolas Jarry is not ready to compete in the Miami Masters 1000. The Chilean player, ranked 47th in the world, withdrew at the last minute from the Florida tournament.
Suffering from a fracture in the little toe of his right foot during his debut in Santiago at the end of February, Jarry had already been forced to withdraw from Indian Wells. In a video posted on his social media, the 29-year-old player confirmed the news.
"Unfortunately, I will have to withdraw from the Miami tournament. I went to see the doctors, and my foot injury is still present. When I'm on the court, my foot still hurts. I am very sad not to have recovered in time for this tournament that I love to play.
I love Miami, which is a Masters 1000. I will return home to continue my rehabilitation, and my next tournament should be in Bucharest (March 31). I hope to arrive in good shape there.
I still have two weeks to recover well, prepare, and arrive in the best possible shape to be able to fight and be competitive again," assured Jarry.
A quarter-finalist in this same tournament last year, Jarry, who was supposed to face Flavio Cobolli for his debut in Florida this year, will drop out of the top 50 in two weeks. His withdrawal benefits Camilo Ugo Carabelli, who will face Brandon Holt. Cobolli, on the other hand, will play against Thiago Agustin Tirante, who came through the qualifiers.
