Laver Cup 2025: Full Sweep for Team World on the Second Day

After the first day of competition at the Laver Cup, Europe was off to a good start, leading 3 points to 1. But things intensify starting Saturday, where each victory counts for two points.
In San Francisco, Team World responded perfectly and in what a manner. In four matches, the group led by captain André Agassi left only scraps for their opponents, not conceding a single set all day.
Thus, Alex De Minaur started off perfectly with a straight-sets victory against Alexander Zverev, who was making his competition debut this year (6-1, 6-4), which initially allowed Team World to draw level.
Following this, Francisco Cerundolo dominated Holger Rune (6-3, 7-6). During the evening session, Carlos Alcaraz was supposed to extinguish the fire and enable Team Europe to equalize, but it was Taylor Fritz who claimed victory (6-3, 6-2).
The American took the opportunity to record his first-ever career win against the Spaniard, who had brought a point to his team in doubles the day before alongside Jakub Mensik. Finally, the doubles match saw the pair Alex De Minaur/Alex Michelsen outperform the duo of Holger Rune and Casper Ruud (6-3, 6-4).
Before the last day, where each victory will be worth three points, Team World is leading 9 points to 3. They only need two victories on the final day to clinch the title and thus triumph for the third time in the last four editions of the Laver Cup.
