After a very good start to the season (10 wins and 1 loss before his second round match in Rotterdam), Jiri Lehecka, who won his first tournament of the season in Brisbane, was stopped dead in his tracks.
After his opening success against Alexei Popyrin in the Netherlands, the Czech player, ranked 24th in the world, was forced to retire at the start of the second set against Hubert Hurkacz (7-5, 2-0 ab).
The 23-year-old took to social media to give an update on his injury.
"I'm sad I couldn't finish my match yesterday, but health must always be the priority. I need to undergo several tests to determine the exact nature of my left thigh injury.
I'll do everything I can to be ready for the Doha tournament. In any case, it's always a pleasure to play here in Rotterdam and I look forward to seeing you next year," wrote Lehecka on X.
After injuring his back in the semi-finals of last year's Madrid Masters 1000, the Czech's progress has once again been hampered by a physical problem.
