Rublev joins Hurkacz in Rotterdam quarter-finals
Andrey Rublev will be in the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam.
The Russian, who kicked off his 2025 season with two defeats in his opening matches in Hong Kong and the Australian Open, is looking to reassure himself in the Netherlands.
After a comfortable first-round win over Zhang Zhizhen (6-3, 6-4), the world No. 10 faced Fabian Marozsan in a rematch of the match he won in Hong Kong at the start of the season.
In a closely-fought match, Rublev gave himself a fright when serving for the match in the second set. After seeing the Hungarian break, he finally found his nerve to close out the match (7-6, 7-6) and reach the quarter-finals.
At this stage of the competition, Rublev will face Hubert Hurkacz, who defeated Cobolli before taking advantage of Lehecka's withdrawal on Wednesday evening.
In head-to-head meetings, the Pole leads 3-2, and this will be their first match since the Shanghai 2023 Masters 1000 final, won by Hurkacz in a third-set tie-break.
