Lehecka wins Brisbane after Opelka's early retirement
The final between Reilly Opelka and Jiri Lehecka at the ATP 250 Brisbane did not live up to its promise. The American withdrew after 15 minutes of play at 4-1, due to injury.
To the incomprehension and disappointment of the audience, Opelka went to tell Lehecka and the referee that he was unable to continue the match.
The Czech wins his second title on the ATP circuit. In a post-match interview, he said: "It's never easy to finish a match like that. I know how you feel, Reilly. It was a great week for me in Brisbane."
After this singles final, he moves on to the doubles final, partnering Jakub Mensik to take on the Cash/Glasspool pair.
