Leylah Fernandez on the rise ahead of Wimbledon

Leylah Fernandez is off to the best start to the grass-court season of her young career. The Canadian, aged 21 and ranked 30th in the world, will play in the final this Saturday at Eastbourne (WTA 500), her first of the season. She will face Daria Kasatkina, ranked 14th in the world, after a very convincing victory over Madison Keys, ranked 12th in the world, in the semi-finals (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) on Friday.

Fernandez had already achieved the best result of her career on the green surface last week, reaching the quarter-finals in Birmingham (beaten by Tomljanovic 1-6, 6-3, 6-2). This augurs well for the 2021 US Open finalist (beaten by Emma Raducanu), just two days before the start of the 2024 Wimbledon tournament.

The former world No. 13 will arrive at the All England Lawn Tennis Club with her confidence at an all-time high. She will face Lucia Bronzetti in the first round, on Monday or Tuesday, on the prestigious London grass.
