Lorenzi on Alcaraz's Situation: "If Ferrero Stops Having an Impact, Carlos Will Need a Second Voice"

Carlos Alcaraz's recent performances have left some commentators skeptical. With Sinner absent due to a doping suspension, the Spaniard should have asserted his dominance on the tour.
However, after a semifinal loss to Draper at Indian Wells (6-1, 0-6, 6-4) and an early exit in Miami against Goffin (5-7, 6-4, 6-3), the world No. 3 seemed uncertain in his decisions, according to Paolo Lorenzi:
"Yet, I’m still surprised by some of his choices. When he hits the ball extremely hard two meters outside the court, it seems like he’s not picking the right trajectories.
For a while, he was perfect because he had that Spanish-school discipline mixed with serve-and-volley and drop shots. He managed to surprise his opponents, but now, he’s just creating confusion.
He’s one of those players who, when he finds order, becomes dangerous. I hope he can rediscover that as soon as possible.
There are aspects he definitely needs to improve. We’ve seen him having fun with the crowd, and it’s great to watch, but he makes on-court choices that don’t align with what he should really be doing.
I’d always pay for a ticket to see him, but I hope he can find at least some consistency," the Italian told SuperTennis.
Another major question from the former Italian player concerns Ferrero’s influence on the Spaniard:
"I don’t know if Juan Carlos will continue with him at this stage. I don’t think his guidance is bad, but if he starts losing his impact, Carlos will need a second voice to listen to."
