Mannarino Advances to Second Round of Newport Challenger

After his Wimbledon run, where he reached the third round after coming through qualifying, Adrian Mannarino regained confidence and aimed to keep the momentum going on grass.
This week, the 37-year-old Frenchman, ranked 123rd in the world, is competing in the Newport Challenger. Seeded fourth, he began his campaign in the first round with a match against Yasutaka Uchiyama, ranked 205th in the ATP.
A manageable start for Mannarino, who didn’t let the opportunity slip. Opportunistic on his opponent’s break points (3/3), the former top 20 player confirmed his strong form on the surface, saving the only break point he faced.
In the end, without too much trouble, Adrian Mannarino secured the win (6-3, 6-4 in 1h25) and advanced to the round of 16. At this stage, he will face an American opponent whose identity is yet to be determined—either Tyler Zink or Trey Hilderbrand.
