Medvedev discusses Rinderknech: "He's a formidable opponent"

Daniil Medvedev will face Arthur Rinderknech for a spot in the Shanghai Masters 1000 final.
Medvedev hasn't had the best season of his career, but the Russian is giving himself the means to go after a Masters 1000 title. The world No. 18 got the better of Alex De Minaur (6-4, 6-4) and advances to the semifinals in Shanghai. The 2019 champion will face Arthur Rinderknech for a place in the final.
Medvedev has only faced the Frenchman once before, in the second round of the 2022 US Open (6-2, 7-5, 6-3). He discussed his upcoming opponent after reflecting on his performance against the Australian.
"The match was balanced. Alex (De Minaur) had a lot of opportunities, maybe more than me. I managed to be a bit more clinical in the important moments. I'm satisfied with my tennis, especially in the final games, and I'm very happy to have gotten through this round.
I made a few double faults (six total in the match), especially in the first set. But I'm happy to be in the semifinals in Shanghai, I'm really looking forward to playing the next match.
Arthur (Rinderknech) is a formidable opponent. He's the type of player who, when he's in form, can beat anyone. His serve is incredible and he has great feel for the ball. When he's having a good day, you know you won't have many opportunities to break him.
I know he'll try to finish points in two shots, but that will be my case too. We'll see how it goes," Medvedev told Punto de Break.
