Medvedev in the round of 16 following Michelsen's withdrawal
Daniil Medvedev spent only eleven minutes on the court this Sunday to secure his spot in the round of 16 of the Indian Wells Masters 1000.
Facing Alex Michelsen, the Russian had managed to break his opponent's serve early, and it was at 2-0 that the American decided to throw in the towel, weakened by food poisoning.
According to Tennis Channel reports, Michelsen had even considered the option of not stepping onto the court.
Thus, it's a relatively quiet start to the tournament for Medvedev, but things will get tougher in the round of 16 as he will face world number 11 Tommy Paul.
