Medvedev ironically reflects on his breakdown: "The camera was very solid".
Daniil Medvedev came within a set of a very surprising elimination in the 1st round of the Australian Open against Kasidit Samrej, ranked 418th in the world in the ATP rankings.
After losing the third set, the Russian, annoyed by the match scenario and his opponent's level of play, broke his racket by hitting the middle of the net, where a camera is located, used for slow-motion replays when players come up to the net (see video below).
In a press conference, the Russian admitted his astonishment at the sturdiness of this famous camera:
"I hope the fine won't be too high. The fine is normally given for breaking a racket, but the camera will cost a bit more.
But I don't think a GoPro is that expensive.
The camera was very, very solid because my racket couldn't take the damage, but the camera did.... Very solid. I was really surprised (laughs).
