Moutet transcended by the Australian public: "These atmospheres challenge me".

Moutet transcended by the Australian public: These atmospheres challenge me.

On the John Cain Arena, the third main court of the Australian Open, Corentin Moutet pulled off a surprise by eliminating No.25 seed Alexei Popyrin in the 1st round, despite having an enthusiastic crowd behind him.

Speaking to reporters at the press conference, Moutet admitted that this kind of atmosphere always gives him extra motivation: "It's a good way to challenge yourself, to see what you've got inside.

I like this kind of atmosphere because it challenges me, it forces me to be brave, to go after my matches.

At Roland Garros, the public are often behind me, so it's normal in Australia for them to be behind me. I wouldn't say there's a lack of fair play, it's normal, it's like that every time you play in your own country.

It's like that every time you play in your own country. That's kind of my vision of sport: to try to surpass yourself, to improve, and this is a good way to do it."
