Medvedev takes the lead against Alcaraz!
It was a dream start for Daniil Medvedev at Wimbledon. Returning to face a player who had outclassed him at the same stage of the competition last year, the Russian got off to a flying start to win the first set (7-6) with great difficulty.
At ease from the baseline and taking advantage of a very shaky Epsganol on serve (46% first ball), the world number 5 eventually took control in the decisive game, which he dominated (7-1).
For his part, the defending champion started the game a little too slowly (15 unforced errors versus 7 for his opponent) and woke up a little too late to win the set.
Once again, Alcaraz doesn't seem to be able to maintain his best level and will therefore have to play a little better, particularly on serve, if he wants to play in the final on Sunday.
Stay tuned!
