Medvedev Wins Another Marathon to Advance to Monte-Carlo Third Round

Daniil Medvedev will be in the third round of the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000. The world No. 11 emerged victorious from a hard-fought duel against Alexandre Müller (7-6, 5-7, 6-2) after 2 hours and 47 minutes of play.
Much like his first-round win against Karen Khachanov, which lasted nearly three hours, Medvedev once again made things difficult for himself. The Russian led 7-6, 5-4 with serve to come and could have wrapped things up fairly quickly.
But with his back against the wall, Müller dug deep in every rally, winning the next three games to force a third set.
Though visibly frustrated by this turn of events, Medvedev stayed focused enough in the final set to pull away decisively and continue his run in the Principality.
He will now compete for a spot in the quarterfinals tomorrow against Alex De Minaur. The match is scheduled as the third fixture on Court des Princes.
