For the third time in his career after 2016 and 2022, Novak Djokovic was eliminated in the second round of the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000, this time against Alejandro Tabilo.

In the post-match press conference, the Serb expressed deep disappointment with his performance on the Rainier III court:

"It was the worst possible day. I hoped it wouldn’t go like this, but there was a high probability I’d play this way. It’s just horrible. Horrible to feel you’re playing like this, and I’m sorry for the spectators.

I hoped to at least deliver a decent performance. But not like this. I knew I had a tough opponent and that I wouldn’t necessarily play well. But for it to be this bad—I didn’t expect that."

Me, me, me. How about "Well played to my opponent, I got beaten by a better player today".

Utterly selfish response, but then why would we expect anything different from Mr I'm so Important. Yet he wonders why nobody likes him

BicesterTennis he always is gracious but then he gets hammered for doing that so now he gets hammered for being forthright and honest. Would you rather he pretended and lied about why he believes he lost the match and come up with some clichéd bollocks about how the other person played better? Perhaps you just have a secret dislike for Eastern Europeans?

Anyone who watched that match would have heard that there were spectators booing at the end of it... therefore an apology is entirely appropriate.

Footfault Bicester, your comments reminds me of the story where two ugly, bloodsucking lice's talk about the Lion King. :)

Djokovic is one of the most, if not the most gracious tennis player ever. You are just blinded by the hate and there no optometrist that can cure that......maybe some other medical professionals.

Also, Joker IS The Best Tennis Player Ever. You just need to be gracious and accept that.

Fred Phoesh, please don't try to make this a racism issue. The Joker is rarely gracious and that is a sad state of affairs for one of the best players ever. Tabilo has now beaten Djokovic twice on clay and has yet to lose a set. He must be doing something right.

Well, this selfish guy has won 24 grand slams, 36 masters and many more..

Some of you who don't like his behaviour, you can play challenger 25, lose a match and be gracious in accepting your defeat

It's 40 Masters 1000. :)

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
