Mensik Also Withdraws from ATP 500 Hamburg Tournament
Scheduled just before Roland-Garros, the ATP 500 Hamburg tournament has been hit by a wave of withdrawals in recent days. Several top players initially registered for the German event have ultimately pulled out, including Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, Holger Rune, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Ugo Humbert, Tommy Paul, and Sebastian Korda.
This avalanche of withdrawals is largely due to the upcoming Roland-Garros, which begins this Sunday, May 25, with the start of the main draw. In the latest development, another player has decided to withdraw: Jakub Mensik. The Czech, who won his first Masters 1000 title in Miami this season, will not compete in the German city after all.
As a reminder, Alexander Zverev was not originally expected to participate but has accepted a wild card to play in his hometown tournament. The 2023 champion and last year's runner-up—after a thrilling third-set tiebreak loss to Arthur Fils—provides some consolation for the organizers.
