Mensik's beautiful tribute to Monfils
Jakub Mensik beat Gael Monfils 6/4, 1/6, 6/3 this Friday in the semi-finals of the ATP 250 in Doha. The Czech hope, aged 18 and ranked 116th in the world, paid tribute to the Frenchman, aged 37 and ranked 68th in the world, when they shook hands at the end of the match.
Mensik: "You were one of my greatest inspirations when I was younger. I used to watch you on television. Thank you for this match."
Monfils (big smile): "It was a pleasure. Good luck for tomorrow's final."
