Monfils Falls in a Thriller Against Dimitrov at Indian Wells
Gaël Monfils faced Grigor Dimitrov this Monday in the third round of the Indian Wells Masters 1000.
In their head-to-head matchups, the Frenchman led 4-2. Despite this, he was defeated after a long battle lasting 3 hours and 3 minutes, with a score of 7-6, 4-6, 7-6.
Monfils managed to break Dimitrov in the first set during the seventh game, but unfortunately for him, he immediately gave the break back.
He managed to recover in the second set but couldn't prevent his defeat in the tie-break of the final set, losing it seven points to two.
The match ended with a warm embrace between the two players at the net, who had faced each other for the first time back in 2011.
Dimitrov will face Carlos Alcaraz in the next round.
