Monfils surprises Humbert and joins Alcaraz in the last 16

Gaël Monfils is inexhaustible.

At 38, the Frenchman is still putting in fine performances, as he is showing this week in Shanghai.

Already victorious over Damir Dzumhur and Sebastian Baez, he has just dominated his young compatriot and friend, Ugo Humbert, in the third round.

He played a very solid match, then took advantage of a diminished Humbert at the end of the game to win after more than 2 hours (7-6, 2-6, 6-1), and will now meet a certain Carlos Alcaraz in the next round.

A match that is bound to feel like a reunion.

As a reminder, Monfils surprised everyone at the Cincinnati tournament by eliminating Alcaraz.
