Monnet joins a very exclusive club at Roland-Garros for French women's tennis in the 21st century

Carole Monnet managed to qualify for the main draw of Roland-Garros. The 23-year-old Frenchwoman bested Petra Martic (2-6, 7-5, 7-5), Fiona Ferro (7-5, 6-2), and Kristina Dmitruk (6-4, 6-4), thus paving her way to the main draw for the second time in her career, having participated in the tournament in 2022, when she lost to Karolina Muchova (6-3, 6-3) after receiving a wild card.
Her success against Dmitruk has ensured her presence in the first round in the coming days, and the world No. 227 will be the only French player to pass the qualifying hurdle this year at Porte d'Auteuil.
This is the third consecutive year that a French player has achieved this feat. In 2023, Fiona Ferro advanced from the qualifying draw, as did Léolia Jeanjean last year.
To recall, and as highlighted by the X account (formerly Twitter) Game, Set and Maths, no Frenchwoman had managed to win three consecutive matches in the qualifications of the Parisian Grand Slam between 2007 and 2022, and 2025 marks only the fourth year of the 21st century in which at least one French player reaches the main draw (in 2006, Aravane Rezaï and Virginie Pichet made it through).
