Moretton on the possibility of renaming a Roland-Garros court in honor of Nadal: "We're at the beginning of another story"

On May 25, Roland-Garros will pay tribute to Rafael Nadal, who won the tournament 14 times between 2005 and 2022 and officially announced his retirement at the end of last season.
Now that the Spaniard, a 22-time Grand Slam champion, is no longer active, tennis observers are raising several questions, including the possibility of renaming a court or a stand in Nadal's honor at the Parisian complex, as is already the case at the Barcelona tournament, for example.
French Tennis Federation President Gilles Moretton was asked about this and remained evasive, believing it was not yet the most pressing matter.
"We're at the beginning of another story between Roland-Garros and Nadal. We wanted to set priorities. First, it's about paying tribute to this incredible champion. This is just the start of something.
We're considering many things with him, we have plenty of projects together that we're currently discussing," Moretton elaborated to *L’Équipe*.
"The visitor will be immersed in the behind-the-scenes of the tournament, from the locker rooms to the press room, including the memorable walk onto the court.
The public will relive the key moments of Rafael Nadal's career, from his first steps in Paris in 2005 to his final moments on the clay of Court Philippe-Chatrier, through photographs, videos, and personal memorabilia," the press release about the tribute to the Mallorcan also states.
