Moretton unfiltered on the French team's defeat in BJK Cup: "What happened is regrettable"

Gilles Moretton, president of the FFT, spoke yesterday about the recent failure of the French BJK Cup team, which will remain in the competition’s second division for another year.
He supported the comments of captain Julien Benneteau, who had stated that "some players did not take responsibility" during the competition week in Vilnius:
"The performance in Vilnius was disappointing. There were attitudes and behaviors that are not necessarily acceptable. The state of women’s tennis at the top level is difficult. We have a gap in our lineup. [...]
What happened is regrettable. I completely understand Julien Benneteau’s reaction, and it forces us to question ourselves. We’re not just treating the symptoms—we’re going to the root of the problem. There will be decisions made.
This defeat is somewhat the culmination of an issue we’ve had for some time. It hurts us deeply, but it also allows us to look in the mirror and ask ourselves what we need to do. However, the disappointment is also behavioral—let’s be very clear about that—and it’s up to us to reassess ourselves."
