Benneteau will no longer be the captain of the French Billie Jean King Cup team

At the end of his contract this summer, Julien Benneteau chose not to renew it. Despite a very challenging final few months for the team, he notably led them to victory in the competition in 2019 with an impressive final against Australia.
Gilles Moretton, president of the French Tennis Federation, stated: "Julien Benneteau has left his mark on the history of our federation, first as a player with achievements like a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and a Davis Cup victory in 2017, then as captain of the French team by securing this third French victory in the Billie Jean King Cup.
Together, we recognized that we were reaching the end of a cycle and that it was necessary for Julien to pass the torch to a new captain who can bring fresh energy to this team."
Benneteau also shared his thoughts: "I thank the French Tennis Federation for entrusting me with this mission, which I pursued with passion for six years. I will obviously cherish the title won in Perth, as well as many other highlights, such as our victory against Great Britain in Coventry in 2023.
I hope this team quickly reclaims the place it deserves among the world's elite."
