Moutet Advances to the Round of 16 in Mallorca
Moutet faced Martinez on the Center Court of Mallorca. The two had previously met, but only on the secondary circuit.
After losing the first set, Moutet managed to turn the match around, defeating his opponent in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-0) after 2 hours and 36 minutes of play. Absent in the first set, the Frenchman defended his serves well to level the score before sealing the match with a 6-0 final set.
With his varied game and strong movement, the 26-year-old secured his 5th grass-court victory this season, including qualifying matches. Last week at Queen’s, he notably eliminated world No. 5 Fritz.
He will now face Daniel Altmaier for a spot in the quarterfinals.
