Moutet Cracks Against Draper in Rome
Facing Jack Draper, Corentin Moutet aimed to secure a second Top 10 victory after defeating Holger Rune earlier on Sunday. The match started brilliantly for him, with a first set easily won 6-1.
Unfortunately for the Frenchman, as the match progressed, physical issues emerged, including a medical timeout in the third set for pain behind his left thigh.
In this left-handed duel, Draper ultimately held his ground and triumphed 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. He becomes the second British player, after Andy Murray, to reach the quarterfinals in Rome in 45 years.
The Brit will next face either Carlos Alcaraz or Karen Khachanov.
As for Moutet, he leaves the Rome tournament with strong performances but will hope his injuries don’t trouble him too much ahead of Roland-Garros.
