Svitolina on Mother’s Day: "Gaël asked me why I wanted to celebrate?"

Qualified for the quarterfinals in Rome, Svitolina continues her strong run after her semifinal in Madrid. In an interview shared by *Tennis Up To Date*, the Ukrainian opened up about her current form and shared some insights about her relationship with Gaël Monfils.
Indeed, the 30-year-old player revealed why she didn’t receive a gift from her husband on Mother’s Day last May 11th:
"Well, it’s on different days in different countries. So Gaël told me: Why are you celebrating? In France, it’s in two weeks, so I’ll give you a gift later. Nevertheless, I think we should celebrate every day. All moms do a very tough job. Right now, I’m on vacation, and Gaël is at home with Skaï."
While Mother’s Day is celebrated on May 11th in Ukraine and the United States, the French observe this tradition on the last weekend of May.
