Although Jakub Mensik is better known as a fast-court player, as evidenced by his title in Miami, he has been delivering strong performances so far in Madrid and Rome.
In a press conference, he confirmed that clay is a surface he’s accustomed to playing on: "I was born in Prostejov, a region in my country where we train a lot on clay.
This surface is in my blood because I spent eight months a year on it as a kid." The Czech will face Hubert Hurkacz this Tuesday and could break into the Top 20 by the end of this week in Rome.
