Sinner reflects on his start in Rome: "I will have to raise my level of play against Cerundolo"

By defeating De Jong (6-4, 6-2), Sinner secured his second consecutive win since returning from suspension. He had previously beaten Navone (6-3, 6-4) in his opening match in Rome. During the press conference, the world number one reflected on his performance:
"In the first set, things went well, and I recovered physically. The impact on our bodies is certainly different from training sessions. But I feel good.
I started very well today, then had a slight dip, which lasted three games. It’s normal—this is only the second match I’ve played in three and a half months. That’s a long time. So, it will be necessary to raise the level tomorrow."
Facing Cerundolo in the round of 16, the Italian is aware the challenge will be tougher:
"There are many positives but also some negatives. Tomorrow will be an important day because I have to raise my level against Cerundolo. Therefore, there will be much more to answer for."
