Sinner Responds to Pope Leo XIV: "Perhaps We’ll Have the Chance to Exchange Shots"
Sinner is currently through to the round of 16 in Rome. During a press conference, the Italian was asked about a variety of topics, including the recent statement made by the new Pope Leo XIV.
An avid tennis fan, the Pope had been questioned about the possibility of organizing a charity match where he would take to the court. He had remarked, "As long as you don’t bring Sinner, we can play. (laughs)," referencing the surname of the world No. 1.
In response, Sinner addressed the Vatican leader: "The Pope? I heard he played as a child, and it’s great for us tennis players to have a Pope who loves the sport. We’ll see if, in the future, we’ll have the chance to exchange shots."
