Moutet Eliminates Medvedev and Nears the Top 30 World Ranking

Just a few days after his defeat in the final in Almaty, Corentin Moutet got his revenge in the best possible way against Daniil Medvedev.

Facing the Russian, the world number 14, in the second round of the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna, the Frenchman delivered an extremely solid performance to win 7-6, 6-4.

More aggressive and more inspired, Moutet managed to dictate the game against a Medvedev who was often frustrated by the Frenchman's variety of shots and mental strength: 33 winners and 4 out of 5 break points converted.

The first set, which was very tight, was decided by a tie-break, convincingly won by Moutet (7-3). The second set confirmed the trend: the Frenchman, now liberated, imposed his rhythm, gradually gaining the upper hand over the former world number one. The result: a clear victory that serves as revenge.

Thanks to this success, Corentin Moutet continues his impressive climb. Now on the verge of the Top 30 in the world, he confirms his status as a dangerous player on the tour. Next challenge: a quarter-final against an opponent yet to be determined: Musetti or Etcheverry.
