Mpetshi Perricard Confident Ahead of Launching His Clay-Court Season: "I Know With a Little Patience, I Can Play Well on This Tour"

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard will make his debut tomorrow in Monte-Carlo against Jordan Thompson.
Despite a tougher period since his semifinal in Brisbane at the start of the year, the world No. 31 is approaching his first participation in the Principality with calm, as he shared with *L’Équipe*:
"I’m really happy to be back on clay. It’s a surface I like a lot. I played on it a lot when I was younger. Now, I’ll be playing the biggest clay-court tournaments in the world, the ones I used to watch on TV.
It’s amazing to find myself in places like this, playing these high-level tournaments, often won by Rafa (smiles). There will be work to do, and not everything will be perfect. But I know that with a little patience, I can play well on this tour."
He also opened up about how clay benefits his playing style:
"I have more time to set my feet, to unleash big shots. That extra time really helps me. When I give myself time, that’s when I’m most dangerous."
