Mpetshi Perricard stopped in his tracks by Khachanov at Paris-Bercy!

Mpetshi Perricard stopped in his tracks by Khachanov at Paris-Bercy!

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard has not won a seventh consecutive ATP match. Last week's winner in Basel (ATP 500), the 21-year-old Frenchman was beaten by Karen Khachanov in the second round of the Rolex Paris Masters 2024 on Wednesday.

The native of Lyon had won the first set after a tremendous battle, particularly in the tie-break, which he won 14 points to 12. But after that, he was less solid, perhaps beginning to feel the fatigue caused by the accumulation of matches.

Khachanov, on the other hand, was able to raise his game and had the nerves to turn things around after the disappointment of losing the first set. In the final act, he seized the only opportunity presented to him, breaking in the 9th game before concluding the match on his own serve.

To try and reach the quarter-finals, the Russian will face the man who beat his compatriot Daniil Medvedev earlier in the day, Australian Alexei Popyrin.
