Mannarino reveals the reasons for his difficult season: "On the court, I had negative thoughts"
Qualified for the last 16 in Paris, Adrian Mannarino has had a tricky season, plagued by an injury that took a long time to heal and mental doubts.
The 58th-ranked player in the world, who reached the last 16 of a Masters 1000 for the first time since August 2023, explained in a press conference the reasons for his declining results this year (13 wins - 29 losses): "I suffered a big foot injury in Miami. I thought it was going to be a matter of a few weeks, but it took several months before I was running normally.
I've lost a lot of matches in circumstances similar to today, in three sets. On the court, I had negative thoughts because I imagined that it would end the same way, with a defeat.
I felt I couldn't give 100% to my game and that was frustrating. Now things seem to be going better.
I've managed to play without thinking about my foot or my knee, which are recurring problems I've had this year. It's looking good now.
