Muller, Halys, Moutet, Rinderknech: French Results from Last Night in Miami

On this first day of the Miami Masters 1000 men's draw, several French players were present on the Florida courts for the first round. While Gaël Monfils secured his qualification earlier in the day against Fabian Marozsan (6-3, 3-6, 6-4), four of his compatriots attempted to follow suit and join him in the second round.
Alexandre Muller held his ground. In good form since the start of the season (with two finals played and his first ATP title in Hong Kong), the Frenchman, currently ranked 41st in the world—his career-best ranking—delivered a solid performance.
Facing Japanese qualifier Rei Sakamoto (6-4, 6-4), Muller was consistent on his serve, not being broken throughout the match, and breaking his opponent's serve at crucial moments in both sets, at 5-4 in each case. He will face Francisco Cerundolo for a spot in the third round.
A semifinalist at the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai a few weeks ago, Quentin Halys is feeling confident. The 28-year-old player, who also reached his career-high ranking (57th) at the start of the 2025 season, eliminated Thiago Seyboth Wild (6-3, 6-4). A quarterfinalist in Miami two years ago, the Frenchman will face Lorenzo Musetti in what promises to be an intriguing second-round match.
Corentin Moutet also advanced. Just days after his clash with Alexander Bublik at the Phoenix Challenger, the Frenchman managed to regroup perfectly. Facing Alexander Blockx, a Belgian qualifier, Moutet avoided falling into any traps and remained focused to win in straight sets (7-6, 6-4). He will meet Alejandro Tabilo in the second round.
However, it’s over for Arthur Rinderknech. In a match where he failed to earn a single break point, the native of Gassin fought hard, especially in the second set, but ultimately fell to Jaume Munar (6-3, 7-6). The Spaniard, ranked 56th in the world, secures a glamorous second-round match against Daniil Medvedev.
