Müller, qualifier for the final in Hong Kong: "This week, the tactic of losing the first set is working".
Alexandre Müller will be playing in his second ATP Tour final tomorrow, after defeating Jaume Munar in three sets (4-6, 7-6, 6-4) on Saturday.
The Frenchman, who has won all his matches in three sets, reflected on his success this week in Hong Kong: "On Saturday, my coach and I said to ourselves 'The plan is to lose the first set and then go for it'.
I don't know if that's really a good tactic to use every week, but in any case, this week, I have the impression that it's the one that works, and we're going to continue like that (smile)."
Trailing 6-4, 3-1 and on the brink of the abyss, Müller finally managed to pull through, without opting for a plan B :
"I asked my coach if I needed to adjust a few things. He said no, that we had to carry on as we were.
All of a sudden, there's a game where I'm there, I'm present, I'm fighting on all points and it's missing a little bit more on his side.
I manage to break him, and from that moment on, it's a new match."
