Musetti Advances to US Open Round of 16 After Compatriot Cobolli Retires
Early in the day in New York, Lorenzo Musetti and Flavio Cobolli were battling for a spot in the US Open round of 16.
A friendly duel, similar to the one between Rinderknech and Bonzi yesterday, unfortunately ended in a retirement. Trailing by two sets and a break (6-3, 6-2, 2-0) against his compatriot, Cobolli threw in the towel due to a right wrist injury.
Musetti reaches the second week of the US Open for the first time in his career. The No. 10 seed will play for a spot in the quarterfinals on Monday against either Jaume Munar or Zizou Bergs.
