Musetti Withdraws in Beijing Quarterfinals
After two victories against the French players Mpetshi Perricard and Mannarino, Lorenzo Musetti faced the rising star of American tennis: Learner Tien (52nd), in the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 in Beijing.
However, the duel turned into a nightmare for the Italian, who was forced to retire at 4-6, 6-3, 3-0 (in favor of Tien): affected in the left thigh.
This situation thus benefited the 19-year-old American, who advanced to the semifinals of the Chinese tournament. Tien also achieved his 5th victory against a top 10 player thanks to this result.
It should be noted that Musetti was heavily booed during the handshake. A crowd that had already expressed its anger towards him following his controversial remarks during his first match in the Chinese capital.
