Tennis has developed a lot here in recent years," says Sinner about China
Having qualified for the semifinals of the ATP 500 in Beijing, Jannik Sinner spoke about Chinese fans and the popularity of tennis in their country. For him, this sport is booming.
He states: "I feel like this sport has developed a lot over the past two years. Already, when I first came, people knew me a bit, which was great.
I've always received tremendous support here and in Shanghai. It's truly a tournament that I enjoy because you see a lot of different things here. It's great to be here. Yes, I feel, as I always say, that this sport has developed a lot here.
It's also because, in both men's and women's tennis, many great Chinese players are sharing their passion for tennis with the local fans. That's fantastic. You can clearly see it every year.
There are more people this year for the first-round matches, many more spectators than last year. I think that should be the goal: trying to attract as many fans as possible to our sport. It's great.
