Musketeers, Svitolina: Messages for Monfils on the Eve of His Final Season on the Tour

Gaël Monfils will retire at the end of 2026. The 39-year-old Frenchman confirmed it on his social media this Wednesday morning, having thus competed in 22 seasons as a professional. For the occasion, his three friends who were part of the Four Musketeers, along with his wife Elina Svitolina, wanted to send him a few words, just months before he experiences his final emotions as a professional player.
"Monf, it's almost the end of a very beautiful and very long adventure. I wish you all the best for your final season. Make the most of all the emotions you'll be able to feel everywhere.
You'll play some tournaments that are dear to your heart one last time. People will be happy to see you. A page is about to turn, but it's not over yet. Go on, enjoy it, my man," assured Gilles Simon.
"My Gaël, I remember you the first time we met. We were 12-13 years old, playing mini-tennis together. Since then, I have so many emotional memories with you, incredible life moments.
Next year, at Roland-Garros, at La Défense, and in all the tournaments you'll play, we'll be there with the friends you've known forever to celebrate you and your immense career. We can't wait to be there, I send you a big hug," for his part affirmed Richard Gasquet.
"It's going to be a fun and enjoyable final year for you and for us, as a family and for all the fans. It will be exciting. I look forward to seeing you on the court. It will also be sad, and it won't be easy for me, even though I'll put on a brave face. It will be a pleasure, and I'm very happy to be by your side," declared his wife Elina Svitolina.
"It was a pleasure to share all these years with you, but I know that in the end, it's not a finish, it's a beginning. We'll have time to spend together. Enjoy your sweetheart and your children now. You've earned it, old friend," concluded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
