"My confidence level is quite high," says Alcaraz after his win against Rinderknech at Queen's
Carlos Alcaraz is still in contention to win a second title at Queen's. Tested by Jaume Munar in the previous round, the world No. 2 raised his level in the quarterfinals to defeat Arthur Rinderknech (7-5, 6-4).
After hitting 24 winners against just 14 unforced errors, the Spaniard, who will face his compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut for a spot in the final, reacted to this victory over the Frenchman.
"Honestly, I feel good. Over the last three matches, I’ve just tried to adapt my tennis as best as possible to the surface. I think it’s working well so far. The more wins you string together, the more confidence you gain.
Right now, I’m feeling good on the court. There are still a lot of things I can improve on grass, but overall, I’m satisfied. My confidence level is quite high, and I hope to keep it up.
I’ve been in this situation before, where I’ve played over three hours and then had another match the next day. I did everything possible to be ready and in good shape.
I have a great team around me who helped me a lot to be prepared today. I knew from the start that it wouldn’t be as physically demanding as yesterday (Thursday), because Arthur (Rinderknech) has a game style based on big hitting.
I knew it wouldn’t be a match with long rallies, but I’m happy with what I showed," Alcaraz told Punto De Break shortly after his victory.
