My idea has always been to dedicate time to my other professional interests," says Murray after ending collaboration with Djokovic
Last week, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray put an end to their highly publicized partnership.
Unfortunately for them, success was not on their side, with Djokovic at best reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open and the final of the Miami Masters 1000. Without waiting to see what their collaboration could have produced at Wimbledon, where the Serb will clearly aim for an eighth title, the two men decided to end the experiment.
The Sunday Times reveals that Murray, who retired at the 2024 Paris Olympics, immediately began a new chapter on his own. He has become a partner at an investment firm. A career shift he had been considering for some time, as he explained to the British media:
"It’s hard to step away from tennis, which has occupied me all this time, and have nothing to fill that void. I’ve seen it with other athletes. If they didn’t have other interests after sports, it became difficult for them to know who they were.
I’m only 38, so I have a long retirement ahead of me. My idea was always to dedicate more time to my other professional interests once my career was over. And I’m starting to enjoy working on these projects.
