"My villain of the week is Holger," Kyrgios reacts to Rune's controversial statement about Jarry
Eliminated in the first round of Wimbledon against Jarry, Rune didn’t hold back in his post-match press conference. The Dane claimed he would have beaten the Chilean nine times out of ten under normal conditions—meaning without his knee pain in the fourth set.
While this statement didn’t sit well with everyone, others were drawn to the 21-year-old’s personality. Indeed, Kyrgios, working as a pundit for TalkSport, reacted to the incident:
"My villain of the week is Holger. I love what he said. It’s the most arrogant comment ever, but I like him. It’s something I could’ve said in a press conference. That’s why I like this player. I love it, and it stirred things up a bit in the media."
For context, the Australian is not competing in the British tournament and hasn’t played a match since the Miami Masters 1000 last May, where he lost in the second round to Khachanov (7-6, 6-0).
