Nadal on the impact of Sinner and Alcaraz on the ATP Tour: "Things haven't changed that much".
Since his return to Barcelona last week, Rafael Nadal has been attracting a lot of attention. An easy winner over Darwin Blanch (6-1, 6-0), he is about to face Alex De Minaur in the second round in Madrid (this Saturday, not before 4pm). Before trying to get the better of the Australian, the king of clay put in an appearance at the press conference.
Asked about the emergence of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, the Spaniard didn't feel that the circuit had changed all that much: "Of course, they're extraordinary players, but at the same time [...], Novak Djokovic has won three Grand Slam tournaments and played in the final of the fourth. I mean, he's from my generation. So, of course, young people do extraordinary things. But on the other hand, a player of my generation and of a level similar to mine, a little better in terms of numbers but similar to the level we played at for a long time, is still very successful. So that means that tennis has some extraordinary new champions, but at the same time, things haven't changed that much."
